Sugestion for Enhanced Management of Hospital Wastes

Abstract
This study was performed to examine the current management of hospital wastes and to find out¢¥ better systems to manage it more effectively. The contents and amount of hospital wastes were investigated and the rules and systems concerning management of hospital wastes were examined through survey in the medical institutes.
1. For proper management hospital wastes should be classified into groups and collected according to the types of contents. Marking systems representing infectiousness, harmfulness, combustibility should be introduced, for instance, using containers differentiated by different colors of wrapping papers.
2. Multiple checking and recording system which specify the recommended management procedures and methods by which the management personnel¡¯s can check whether the hospital waste has been managed properly should be introduced and established.
3. Every medical institute should employ an expert who specializes in management of hospital Wastes, who is assigned the task of collecting and classifying all the hospital wastes and deciding the proper managing method of each group of hospital wastes according to its properties, further checking whether it is being managed correctly. It is recommended that other personnel in the hospital along with the
patients and their patrons should also be"¢¥ educated about the importance and the way of proper management of hospital wastes.
4. The medical institutes above hospital level should be equipped with effective management system, managing promptly the produced hospital wastes, thus reducing the opportunities of infectious cases and other¢¥, harmful cases, consequently decreasing the amount of hospital wastes in the hospitals.
